Do we have a moral duty to leave Facebook?

The platform has been used to disrupt elections, disseminate propaganda, promote hate and dangerous practices, and profit financially from all of them, In addition, as researchers have demonstrated, Facebook use can worsen depression and anxiety, as users should we ask if we are implicated in these failings?

As a page owner, I must say I have asked this myself many times. In some waysI really hate what social media has become. On the other hand, without social media I would have gone half mad during the corona isolation.

I really hope this project of mine will create a safe space for people who are not interested in spreading pseudoscientific bullshit, who are OK with swearing, and not puritanical in their life views. At least I hope so.

Ps. It’s not only Facebook. Instagram is a right ol’ mess with profiles that are spreading extremely unhealthy views and attitudes. It’s like a narcissistic cacao wanking ceremony.

Twitter is equivalent to walking past a drunk stag party that has started to fight.

Well, perhaps it’s because humans just tend to be shite.

I hope this community will remain small, but big enough for it to be financially sustainable. It’s a fine balance.
